GES directs Heads of SHSs to deboardinized rioting WASSCE candidates
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has authorised Heads of Senior High Schools (SHSs) to deboardinized any final year student sitting for this years WASSCE for school candidates and involved in an act of violence.
The Director-General of GES, Prof Kwasi Opoku Amankwa in a statement dated August 6, 2020, copied to GeorgeWeb said, their attention has been drawn to circulating videos of protesting against school authorities and insulting high profile personalities particularly President Akufo-Addo.
In a viral video sighted by GeorgeWeb, a candidate alleged to be a student of the Sekondi College was seen raining insults on His Excellency Akufo-Addo and blaming him for their frustration over the failure to answer the WASSCE Integrated Science questions administered on August 3, 2020.
In another video candidates of the Kumasi-based Tweneboa Kodua SHS protested against their headmaster accusing him of strict invigilation during his supervision on August 3 during the conduct of the first paper.
They aggrieved final year students of the Tweneboa Kodua in their demonstration against the headmaster reportedly vandalised the school property, a similar case has been recorded at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High technical.
However, the Education Service in the statement said any destruction of the school property will be surcharged against the culprits established to be involve, adding that instances of criminal acts would be reported to the police for thorough investigation.
The Service following the constant misconduct of candidates in some Senior High Schools (SHSs) has authorised school authorities to deboardinized any such student involved in indiscipline acts and ensure he/she commute from home to write examination under parental control.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) further urged parents and guardians to advise their wards to desist from the unaccepted act and maintain a high sense of discipline and comportment.
