Gov’t to support private schools affected by COVID-19

The Government of Ghana (GoG) will soon provide financial support to private schools in the country negatively impacted by the outbreak of the locally transmitted coronavirus, the Vice President of the Republic has said.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia announced the aid which is to help save these institutions and school owners when he was speaking to teachers and artisans in the Ablekuma Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

The President’s right-hand man expressed worry about the situation of private schools and their staff and assuring them of government’s support.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) on several occasions have appealed to the central government to come to their aid and save teachers from being laid off and schools from collapsing.
