The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) after a meeting with its relevant stakeholders has announced a date for the conduct of the 2020 BECE for school candidates.
According to the Service, the 2020 BECE for school candidates, initially postponed amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus has been scheduled to September 14, 2020.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) when started on the 14 of September will end on September 18, 2020. The exam is expected to last for one 5 days.
Following the closure of all schools in the country on March 16 by President Akufo-Addo amid the novel disease, the Ghana Education Service announced it has postponed the conduct of the annual examination for final year students in the Junior High school (JHS).
The Education Service however said it will at the appropriate time announced a new date for the conduct of the basic examination to the students, the general public, and its relevant stakeholders.
According to President Akufo-Addo’s directive, 2020 BECE candidates are expected to resume school on June 29 with an eleven week intensive teaching and learning after which they will sit for their final examination scheduled for September 14 to September 18, 2020.
After the long closure of schools, the President in his 10th televised address to the nation on May 31 announced for schools to be reopened to only final year students in Junior, Senior high and tertiary institutions.
President Akufo-Addo following the partial reopening of school has assured to equip students and teachers with a washable reusable face/nose mask among other COVID-19 preventive items to ensure a safe reopening of school.
