GES recruitment: We’ve employed over 10,000 non-teaching staff – NAPO

According to Ghana’s current Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Ghana Education Service (GES) from 2017 to date has recruited and employed over 10,000 non-teaching staff into service.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO disclosed this speaking in an interview with the Accra-based Peace FM on Kokrokoo morning show with host Kwame Sefa Kayi monitored by Georgeweb.org.
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament comment comes after he was asked if the central government has plans to recruit non-teaching staff into service this year as recruitment for graduate teachers commence.
“In the last four years we have employed over 10,000 non-teaching staff”, NAPO told host of ‘Kokrokoo show’ Mr Kwame Sefa Kayi.
Asked if non-teaching staff would receive the professional development allowance, the Education Minister said: “the professionals will get a professional allowance and non-professionals non-professional allowance”.

He indicated that effective November ending this year all professional and non-professional teachers will get an amount GH₵ 1,200 and GH₵ 800 each year.
