Academic break: Senior High Schools reopen Tuesday after 2020 election

The one-week partial academic break which commenced last Friday, December 4, 2020, has ended today Tuesday, December 8, 2020, for all second-year students in all Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country.
The Management of the Ghana Education Service in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org directed head of schools to break form 2 students effective December 4 for those who are 18 years and above to vote December 7, 2020.
The Education Service indicated that schools, when closed on Friday 4th December for the academic break, will be reopened a day after the 2020 general election which is today Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
It, however, said prospective students will return to school on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, to continue with academic activities and vacate on December 14, 2020, as earlier stated by His Excellency Akufo-Addo.

The Management of the Service in the light of the above entreats teachers, parents and students to take note that schools have reopened and academic work will commence tomorrow December 9, 2020, until December 14, 2020.

Am very much concerned about how these students are being exposed to imminent danger . Mandatory break for a week for students to move to and fro . There’s a whole lots of danger and stress with boarding of vehicles including those who travel more than 200 km and others .
