Free SHS has nothing to do with students wanting to cheat in exams – Prof Adei
Ghanaian Educationist, Professor Stephen Adei has refuted claims that the Akufo-Addo government’s implementation of the Free SHS policy is the major cause of candidates relying on leaked to pass their final examination.
According to the Professor, examination malpractices are a systemic problem which be tackled strategically. The Professor’s comment comes after several viral videos of this year’s candidates morning and insulting of their failure surfaced on various social media platforms.
In a video sighted by GeorgeWeb, some of them claimed none of what they studied was featured in the examination question, adding that they could not answer the WASSCE questions.
But the Educationist speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Wednesday condemned destroying the image of a policy that is supposed to benefit the less the privileged.
“This is nonsense. This thing has been there all the time and it is not a free SHS thing. For the past decade, there have been so many cancellations of exams, hasn’t there?” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a statement admonished persons associated with the conduct of the examination particularly Regional/District Directors, supervisors and invigilators to ensure the examinations are malpractice free.
