GHS, GES outline exit guidelines for SHS students after exams

A jointly released statement by the Ghana Education and Health Service has indicated conditions or guidelines for Form 2 Gold track SHS students to go home or stay in school for a while after sitting their end-of-semester examination.
The joint statement signed by the Director-General’s of the Services and copied to Georgeweb.org outlined guidelines on how the students after completion of the end-of-semester examination on Friday, July 31 will be discharged home.
The Service in the release indicated that “the first group of students to be dismissed home are students in Senior High Schools (SHSs) with no positive case of the novel coronavirus or has no recorded cases”. Students of this category of schools, can “vacate and go home.”
It said the second group is made up of schools that “had a positive case but has not reported any new positive case within the last 14 days”. Students of this category of schools, can also “vacate and go home”.
According to the Service, the third group will be “any school that had a positive case within the last two weeks.”
It said students of this category will have their vacation delayed for assessment and observation before they can be permitted to go on vacation and parents of such students will be notified.
The Director-General’s of the Services commending their staff for their commitment, dedication and sacrifices in the interest of the students also urged the citizenry particularly parents to continue to support the prospective candidates with prayers as they continue with their WASSCE.
