Engage parents on fees for virtual learning – NIB to private schools

The National Inspectorate Board (NIB) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) has called on private school proprietors to engage parents to reach a consensus of fees to be charged for virtual learning as next academic year and school reopening has been scheduled to January 2021.
The Board clarification follows reports that some proprietors and school authorities are unclear about the President’s directives on the continuation of school for the rest of the year.
According to the National Inspectorate Board, the presidential directive for the Education Ministry to roll out distance learning programmes for students are still in effect despite the reopening of schools for other levels.
The National Inspectorate Board (NIB) in a statement dated September 1, 2020, copied to Georgeweb.org indicated the directive still holds for virtual learning, hence private schools can conduct teaching and learning virtually for students.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his first televised nation’s address on March 15, 2020, tasked the Ministry of Education (MoE) and communication Ministry to roll out distance learning programmes virtually.
