The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has reportedly tested positive for the COVID-19 that has claimed 129 lives as of July 9, 2020,
The Director-General is a member of an 11 member committee chaired by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo who just tested positive for the virus.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has since been quarantined at a health facility and undergoing treatment.
The members of the committee according to sources were exposed to a COVID-19 infected person for which they contracted the virus.
The source added that other members who have not tested positive for the virus have gone into self-isolation.
The media spokesperson for the Minister for Education in a statement said Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been discharged from the hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19.
The spokesperson in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org said the Education Minister was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) but has since been discharged.
Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng explained that, NAPO was discharged from the UGMC “with a positive rapid antibody test result and will be further monitored,”
