The first appointed female Vice-Chancellor of the Kumasi-based Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially taken over duty from Professor Obiri Danso, the formal Vice-Chancellor.
The Management of KNUST on June 25, 2020, announced the appointment of Professor Rita Akosua Dickson to serve as Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term starting today Saturday, August 1, 2020, until July 31, 2024.
The female Vice-Chancellor until her appointment was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology.
She in October 2018 served as an acting Vice-Chancellor when the Governing Council of the University asked the then Vice-Chancellor Professor Obiri Danso to temporary leave the position.
Prof. Rita Dickson again served as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Currently, the KNUST female Vice-Chancellor who holds a PhD and a Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (GCAP from King’s College London has taken over as the main Vice-Chancellor until 2024.
