The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to just like other activities announce the resumption of campus and school sporting activities for students in the country.
NUGS President, Yiadom Boakye Emmanuel also called YB appeal comes after the government last year suspended sporting activities in all schools amid the unexpected outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Responding to the petition, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Opoku Bobie said he will retable discussion on the matter at the next cabinet meeting with the hope there would be a directive for the resumption of sporting works.
The NUGS Leadership also sought the intervention of the Ministry for the opening of sporting facilities in the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) which has been locked by the sports directorate.
National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) also demanded representation on the Board of the National Youth Authority as it existed before an amendment to the NYA act in 2016.
The sporting activities, the Union leadership said when resumed will go on in respect of safety coronavirus protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and other health professionals.
