Over 10,100 candidates sit for WASSCE in Greater Kumasi – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disclosed that over 10,141 candidates representing 5,117 males and 5,024 females are sitting for the 2020 WASSCE for School in Greater Kumasi until September 5, 2020.
The Metropolitan Director of Education, Mr David Oppong speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said the examination was being administered with strict adherence to the COVID-19 preventive protocols.
He noted that candidates before the commencement of the examination undergo a compulsory body temperature check, hand-washing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers as well as wearing of nose masks.
Some Senior High Schools toured by the Ghana Education Service (GES) delegation included Kumasi Wesley Girls’, Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ and Kumasi Girls’ Senior High Schools (SHSs).
The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Osei Assibey-Antwi also visited some examination centres to encourage the first batch of the Free SHS beneficiaries as they sit for their final examination despite novel COVID-19.
The MCE extended the Kumasi Assembly’s best wishes to the prospective candidates and urged them to concentrate on the task ahead.
