The Ashanti Regional Directorate of Education as part of efforts to restore calm has released the two interdicted House Masters of the KNUST SHS, Mr. Seth Owusu Ansah, and Mr. Anthony Awotwe, to the Oforikrom Municipal Directorate of Education for reposting.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) announced the interdiction of the two teachers following the incident that led to the sudden demise of Leonard Sam, a final year business student, last Thursday.
The Headmistress of the KNUST SHS, Ms. Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa had earlier been interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to allow for further investigation into the matter.
The Service in a statement copied to Georgeweb.org asked the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Ms. Mary Owusu-Akyaw to temporarily take over the duties of Ms. Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Mark Ofori speaking to the media said the regional office was in consultation with the GES to set up the committee that would investigate the matter.
“We are in the process of forming the committee,” Mr. Mark Ofori said.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES) who confirmed the reposting of the teachers to the Daily Graphic said the decision was to ensure that calm is restored in the school.
He gave an assurance that “there is complete calm on the compound and students have resumed their normal daily routine”
