According to a release sighted by GeorgeWeb, the West African Examinations Council, is cautioning the public about activities of examination results fraudsters who introduce themselves as workers of WAEC and also claim to have access to its results database.
These fraudsters contact candidates with the promise of “upgrading” their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers.
The Council said it assures members of the public that its results database is well secured. As such, all forged results can be detected by its confirmation/verification system.
WAEC further advised Institutions and organizations to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the Council or access the confirmation/verification service online at www.waecgh.org.
Members of the public are advised to report the activities of these fraudsters to the police or to the nearest WAEC Office
In the statement, WAEC urged candidates and the general public to beware of fraudsters who contact them with the promise of “upgrading” their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers.
