2021/2022 UG JCR Presidents [Traditional Halls Edition]

The 2019/2020- 2021/2022 academic years have been a rollercoaster ride.

Students all over the world had to deal with the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, adapting online teaching and learning, adjusting to remote learning, and electing student leaders who represented the voice.

In the University of Ghana, due to the modular system implemented by the University’s management to limit the spread of Covid19, students had to report to school in batches.

The first cohort comprising level 100 and 400 students, post-first-degree law level 200 students, and the second cohort is made up of level 300 and 200 students, post-first degree law level 300 and level 400 students.

At the departmental and Junior Common Room (JCR) level, outgoing executives had to be proactive in organizing elections for new executives to lead students.

While some stuck strictly to the traditional mode of voting (physically present and voting using ballot paper), other elections took place both physically and online, and others also strictly online.

At the end of the Junior Common Room (JCR) elections, below are the duly elected traditional halls presidents of the 2021/ 2022 academic year and a brief biography of them:

Name: Yvette Edinam Esi Kakra Kordjie

Course: BSc Administration (Accounting)

Senior High School: Wesley Girls’ High School

Motivation in life: My parents. They always push and encourage me to give off my best in whatever situation I find myself in.

Hobbies: Cooking, writing, and reading. I love taking on new hobbies all the time!

Interests: Traveling the globe, exploring and experiencing different cultures and the diversity that makes the world so beautiful.

Aspiration: To fully live every day and in every moment and learn something new every day.

Message to constituents: I want to be an exemplary leader that leads by character.

Name: Adu-Boateng Samuel

Level: 300

Course: BSc Administration (Accounting)

Senior High School: Osei Kyeretwie Senior High school (OKESS), Kumasi

Motivation in life: “A man reaps what he sows” in the bible (Gal. 6:7). I’m motivated by the fact that whatever effort you put into something, whether secretly or in the open, you’ll bear the consequences of that in the long run directly or indirectly. Your contributions will not be overlooked or go in vain. There are no limits to what a man can do. We can do whatever thing we want if we set our minds towards that.

Hobbies: Movies, Reading.

Interests: philanthropy, meeting new people.

Aspiration: I aspire to be a great leader whose actions and life paths impact/influence others positively.

Message to constituents: All my policies aim to change the bad narrative about Akuafo Hall before I exist.

  • Mensah Sarbah Hall JCR President

Name: Daniel Ofori Frimpong

Level: 300

Course: BA. Political Science and Religion

Senior High School: Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High school

Motivation in life: Never underestimate villa.
My source of personal motivation is Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, a businessman cum politician, and how he started

Hobbies: listening to political talk shows, a fan of football and music

Interests: Politics, business, and communication

Aspiration: To become an international relations expert in global security and terrorism, businessman, lawyer and a Politician

Message to constituents: we should fix our attitude and let’s be passionate about any good thing we stand for. We shouldn’t always think about selfish interests, but that of fellow man should also be part of our priorities.
Let’s take good actions and get good results.
